In my case, as I have just the one array, there is no choice: DA0.
The first task then is to select the disk array to migrate. The Promise Utility app does that from its Background Activities tool: simply click on the Start button in the Migration section. But to achieve that, I had to migrate the RAID to the new, larger size. I repeated that until all four of the drives were new 2 TB units.Īfter the fourth and final rebuild, I had the same 3 TB logical drive on four 2 TB drives, which were actually capable of delivering a net total of 6 TB storage. Once the first new drive had been rebuilt, I shut the system down, popped the next old drive out, replaced it with a new 2 TB unit, and rebuilt the RAID again. Because I am using Level 5 RAID, one out of the four drives can fail without incurring any data loss, so the remaining three drives can always rebuild a fourth. Once they arrived, I popped the dead drive first, replaced it with a new 2 TB unit, powered the RAID up, and set it to rebuild the new drive. Rather than keep replacing 1 TB drives, I decided that it was time to replace all four drives with new 2 TB units. Holding my Time Machine backup drive and configured as a Level 5 array, its 3 TB space had been steadily eaten away until less than 450 GB were remaining.
#PROMISE PEGASUS R4 ALL BLUE NOT SHOWING UP UPGRADE#
My upgrade was rather forced on me, when the original four 1 TB hard drives started to fail after more than four years of continuous and quite heavy use. Like Tangent Element. If you have a hardware RAID system like the Promise Pegasus R4, how easy is it to increase its drive capacity non-destructively? I know Mini Panel isn't the Advanced Panel, but these functions are the minimum it should be able to do. In curve mode (very good indeed), It would be good to be able to change the target value (0% 10% etc.), or to use a knob to move the selected point along the curve (like you did in other curves mode) Now it's Low, High, Low soft, High Soft, but it would be clearer to be Low, low soft, High, High Soft In Qualifier mode for Saturation and Luminance, you should change the order. On Tangent Element, they use the 4th wheel for that (very very very useful and important) Wipe function when we use a Still, maybe you could add this wipe function into Sizing=>Reference menu, on an unused knob. "Add version" button, and buttons to switch between versions. Add Keyframe button (Static and Dynamic) (very very important in my opinion) And it should be accessible at anytime without entering in a menu. Reset all grade button (I use that very often) Delete node button (very important in my opinion) The Mini Panel is close to be better, but not yet. I graded 3 features documentaries this month, 2 with Tangent Element and the third one with Mini Panel. It would also be awesome to have an option to have a grey background rather than the blueish.ģ) Use the spare button in the tracker panel to switch it to stabilise mode? - This might be a bit more complicated than I think though.Ĥ) Mentioned plenty - but maybe holding home powers down the panel?ĥ) Have an option for the panel not to control resolve when app not in foreground.Ħ) Mentioned plenty also, but I will be your best friend forever if you make play and rewind behave like j/k/l. It is just handy to see the values as you adjust them sometimes and I find myself in the wrong setting seemingly all the time :p.Ģ) As mentioned before - screens are too bight for me by default - a brightness setting would be welcome. Adjusting hue/sat/lum mix switches it to "1". ġ) adjusting color boost/shadow/highlight etc switches primary UI into "2" (adjustments I think it used to be called?). Only other critique is there are no version buttons and no reference wipe. Just a bit inconsistent on the panel I have. I did notice a few of the knobs a bit "grainier" than the others - not a big deal - just wondering if anyone else has that? Some knobs are incredibly smooth. Having 3 displays would have been nice, but hey I'm sure there are many many reasons it is designed the way it is. Got the panel today, really like it! Great work to the team.
